Deep Instinct releases next-gen AI Analyst in AI-based deep learning framework for cybersecurity

Lane Bess, CEO of Deep Instinct

Deep Instinct, a data security company built on the first and only AI-based deep learning framework for cybersecurity, has announced the general availability of DIANNA (Deep Instinct’s Artificial Neural Network Assistant). DIANNA works in tandem with the DSX Brain, the world’s first purpose-built deep learning cybersecurity “brain,” to deliver unprecedented explainability into unknown threats.

The cybersecurity industry has long relied on an “assume breach” mindset, resulting in billions of dollars lost to attacks each year. Legacy detection-and-response tools are slow, reactive, and increasingly ineffective against AI-powered threats, with IBM finding it takes organizations an average of 241 days to identify and contain a breach. With cyberattacks growing in speed and sophistication, organizations must adopt a preemptive data security posture to stop threats before they execute — not after the damage is done.

“To win this fight, cybersecurity teams must shift from chasing threats to preventing them,” said Lane Bess, CEO of Deep Instinct. Bess was formerly CEO of Palo Alto Networks between 2008 and 2011 before its IPO, and then COO of Zscaler until 2015, where he partnered with the founder to lead the rapid scaling of the company up until its successful IPO.

“Preemptive data security – powered by deep learning, the most advanced form of AI – is the only way for SecOps teams to regain control and stay ahead of adversaries,” Bess stated.

While AI adoption is accelerating, the findings uncover a more complex reality. Security teams are limited by knowledge gaps, inconsistent implementation, and mounting operational pressures as they face an increasingly treacherous, AI-driven threat landscape.

“Just as ChatGPT 5 delivers clear answers to complex questions, DIANNA brings instant threat explainability to cybersecurity teams,” Bess commented. “Today, we launched DIANNA, a next-generation AI analyst unlike anything else on the market. DIANNA isn’t a simple AI chatbot, like other cyber vendors offer. Instead, think of it like ChatGPT5, which delivers clear answers to complex questions. DIANNA revolutionizes how cybersecurity teams use AI to better understand and explain never-before-seen threats. This is the future of cybersecurity: prevention-first, intelligent, and transparent.”

At the core of Deep Instinct’s prevention-first approach is the DSX Brain, a proprietary discriminative neural network purpose-built for cybersecurity, trained on tens of billions of data points over the past decade. With its ability to continuously learn like the human brain, DSX Brain stops known and unknown threats in <20 milliseconds, with >99% accuracy and <0.1% false positives.

“DIANNA delivers the clarity and confidence needed to explain unknown attacks prevented by the DSX Brain, accelerating the work of security teams by enabling faster, more decisive action,” Bess said.

While the DSX Brain stops threats pre-execution, DIANNA provides the “why” and “how.” Powered by generative AI, DIANNA functions as a virtual team of malware analysts, breaking down complex, never-before-seen threats into actionable, easy-to-understand narratives. In  less than 10 seconds, DIANNA delivers insights into attack anatomy, patterns, and behaviors for both known and unknown threats, equipping security teams with the context they need to act faster and more effectively.

Competitors offer basic bots that recycle known threat data from existing logs or reputation data. DIANNA is different. It explains the unexplained, giving analysts expert-level visibility into never-before-seen attacks. The result is unprecedented visibility and confidence in the DSX Brain’s verdicts, all while reducing false positives and streamlining SOC workflows.

DIANNA is being positively received in the market.

“We had a fantastic time meeting with and presenting to Amazon Web Services (AWS) technical leadership this week in both Seattle and NY,” Bess noted. “It’s clear the AWS Marketplace  — and its partnering motion — is continuing to accelerate in exciting ways. The opportunity to bring value to our joint customers has never been stronger.”

Deep Instinct is inviting interested viewers to join their  webinar on Wednesday, October 1st at 11 AM ET to experience explainability live. They will create never-before-seen AI-driven malware, prevent it with the DSX Brain, and then have DIANNA perform live analysis, demonstrating the one-of-a-kind technology in action.
