Auvik’s new CTO Dan Zaniewski lays out his plans

Dan Zaniewski, Chief Technology Officer, Auvik

Network management firm Auvik has promoted Dan Zaniewski to Chief Technology Officer from his previous role as Senior VP of Engineering. His task is to advance Auvik’s technical leadership in the growing network management and IT operations sectors. Auvik’s plan is for Zaniewki to  leverage his deep expertise in product engineering in the MSP channel and security spaces to accelerate Auvik’s AI adoption, cybersecurity, and cloud strategies while meeting growing market demand.

With over 20 years of engineering experience, Zaniewki spent a good chunk of his career at Datto, where he became Head of Engineering for Datto’s flagship data protection and disaster recovery suite operating at $500M in annual revenue, and was responsible for their 100,000+ edge device fleet and 850+ PB of private cloud storage. Before coming to Auvik in April 2024, his last role was Chief Technology Officer at Cork, which makes an inside out cyber risk monitoring and warranty product tailored for the MSP community. There he developed an industry-first security monitoring platform. Between these companies, Zaniewki thus has significant experience in the MSP space, although he emphasized that isn’t the sole focus of his past work.

“While I do have a lot of experience in the MSP channel between leading engineering for Datto’s flagship backup product line and building an industry-first security monitoring platform as CTO at Cork, a lot of our focus will benefit all of our customers, not just our MSP partners,” Zaniewski said. “That breadth of experience in both product engineering and security gives me a clear perspective on where the market is headed and what IT teams need to stay ahead. My vision is to continue to develop innovative ways for IT teams to stay ahead in a secure, reliable manner.”

Auvik’s CEO has the same perspective on Zaniewski’s task.

“Dan’s promotion is well deserved and timely for Auvik, reflecting the strategic importance technology plays in the company’s growth, competitiveness, and innovation,” said Doug Murray, Auvik’s  CEO. “As companies expand, complexity in infrastructure, product lines, and customer expectations also grow,” said Doug Murray, Auvik’s CEO. “Dan will play a crucial role in ensuring Auvik’s technology vision expands in alignment with business strategy and market demands.”

Auvik Network Management’s automated capabilities streamline network management and operations, giving technicians more relevant topology insights than ever before. Auvik equips IT professionals and MSPs with real-time, automated insights into network performance, traffic and health as well as end user experience in networks anywhere – delivering immediate ROI while freeing engineers to focus on more strategic initiatives.

“After more than a decade in the MSP space, I’ve learned what makes the biggest difference – giving IT teams the tools to work smarter, not harder,” Zaniewski said. “That means cutting through noise, speeding up troubleshooting, and optimizing how networks perform. Auvik will continue advancing automation and AI to shift IT professionals away from repetitive work toward more strategic priorities.”

Zaniewski sees his role as fundamental in pushing this process along.

“As CTO, my priority is to double down on the stability and resiliency that partners and customers rely on from Auvik,” he stated. “At the same time, we’re reigniting our engineering culture of innovation, bringing fresh product enhancements to market faster. Strong fundamentals aren’t at odds with innovation –  they enable it. When you have a stable foundation, you can move faster and deliver continuous platform improvements with confidence.”

That is a fundamental goal going forward, Zaniewski emphasized.

“By leaning into AI, we’ll take meaningful steps to reduce manual friction for customers and deliver a more intelligent, seamless experience across the platform,” he said. “The goal is lasting impact: better uptime, fewer disruptions, and workflows that actually make IT teams more effective over time. We have a few really exciting things we’re working on that I’m not quite ready to talk about, but stay tuned.”

Artificial intelligence is continuing to transform networking and IT workflows at Auvik, automating high-volume tasks that are repetitive and time-consuming.

“At Auvik, we see AI not as a replacement for human expertise but as an accelerator of it,” Zaniewski, said. “By embedding intelligent automation into network monitoring, incident response, and traffic optimization, we’re helping IT teams cut through alert noise, troubleshoot faster, and optimize configurations in real time. As CTO, I’m looking forward to driving continuous AI-driven improvements to Auvik’s platform. Intelligent automation means our customers don’t just get efficiency gains today, they gain resilience, reduced downtime, and smarter workflows that deliver lasting business value.”
