Getac unveils rugged F120 for Industrial field professionals

Getac, a leading provider of rugged computing and mobile video solutions and a manufacturer with advanced in-house capabilities, has announced the release of its new F120 — the world’s first fully rugged Copilot+ PC in a tablet form factor. The F120 comes with a large 12.2-inch screen and delivers powerful on-the-go AI performance to Industrial Field Professionals. The F120 is also designed to meet the needs of field professionals who want to harness the power of edge AI to optimize efficiency in challenging working environments, such as those found in the defense, utilities, manufacturing, and automotive industries.

Copilot+ PCs are the fastest, most intelligent Windows devices currently on the market, with powerful processors and access to highly advanced AI models that can fundamentally transform workflows and operations in the field. To qualify as a Copilot+ PC, a device must include a neural processor unit (NPU) capable of 40+ trillion operations per second (TOPS), have a minimum of 16GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage, and support at least one form of biometric security authentication.

Getac’s new F120 meets all these criteria. Powered by the latest Intel CoreT Ultra 200V Series Processor and Intel AI Boost NPU with up to 48 TOPS, it accelerates AI-driven tasks like diagnostics, image processing, and real-time analytics, enabling users to tackle challenges faster and more effectively. With options up to 32GB LPDDR5X memory, 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD storage, and Windows Hello facial recognition, the F120 is designed to support seamless multitasking and offers secure access features and the power to handle demanding workloads, making it an ideal tool for professionals in mission-critical environments.

“The F120 builds on Getac’s excellent track record of delivering the latest mobile computing technology to professionals working in highly challenging environments where the use of rugged technology is absolutely non-negotiable,” said Charlie Gibbs, Director of Product Solutions, Getac North America.

The F120 has a large, bright (1,200 nits) 12.2-inch LumiBond display with Smart Touch and Getac sunlight-readable technology, which offer excellent durability, readability, and contrast ratio in a range of weather conditions, from bright sun to heavy rain. A new narrow bezel design means it is also smaller and lighter than its predecessor –  the Getac F110 –  despite having a larger overall screen size (12.2-inch vs. 11.6-inch).

Other key features on the F120 include Wi-Fi 7 for faster wireless speeds and more responsive performance, two Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-speed data transfer, user-friendly hot-swappable battery technology for all-day productivity, and a robust suit of security features including TPM 2.0 as standard. Additional security options include Intel vPro Technology, smart card reader, and Absolute Persistence if required. Durability is boosted by extensive rugged credentials including MIL-STD-810H and IP66 certifications, vibration and 6ft (1.8m) drop resistance, optional salt fog resistance, and an operating temperature range of -29 to +63 ˚C / -20 to +145 ˚F. Like all Getac fully rugged devices, the F120 also features extensive rugged credentials including MIL-STD-810H and IP66 certifications, vibration and 6ft (1.8m) drop resistance, optional salt fog resistance, and an operating temperature range of -29˚C to +63˚C / -20˚F to +145˚F. The military certification ensures survival through drops, shocks, vibrations, and extreme temperatures through nearly 30 rigorous tests. Rugged tablets are specifically designed to withstand harsh conditions, meeting standards for durability and environmental resistance. IP65-IP68 ratings offer essential protection against water and dust for outdoor utility work.

The F120 is designed to help field professionals across multiple industries perform complex tasks with ease. For instance, defense professionals can use the F120’s extensive connectivity and security features to turn any vehicle into a mobile command and control centre. Utility engineers can perform power-intensive GIS mapping activities and asset management in remote locations, using AI to stitch together thousands of high-res images quickly and efficiently. Automotive engineers and technicians can use the F120’s AI capabilities to quickly run intricate diagnostics and get vehicles back on the road as fast as possible.

“The combination of powerful Edge AI capabilities, large screen, weather-resistant functionality, and compact form factor enables users to fundamentally change the way they tackle challenges in the field, both when on foot and when operating in vehicles,” Gibbs stated. “The result is faster and more intelligent solutions to unique industry challenges, helping to optimize operational efficiency regardless of the situation or weather conditions faced.”
