At this week’s inaugural Bell Cybersecurity Summit in Toronto, Bell officially announced the launch of Bell Cyber, a new brand complementing its growing AI-powered technology solutions business, alongside Ateko and Bell AI Fabric. Bell Cyber is a pivotal step in Bell’s strategy to lead as a North American technology services provider, able to deliver AI-powered, scalable and sovereign cybersecurity solutions that protect enterprises.
“Today, we are celebrating the launch of Bell Cyber, a new brand that solidifies our standing as a leading Canadian managed security services provider,” said John Watson, Group President of Bell Business Markets (BBM), AI, and Ateko. “Bell Cyber delivers next-generation Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) by integrating Bell’s robust security platforms, telecommunications infrastructure, and resilience with our new, AI-powered, autonomous Security Operations Center (SOC).” The SOC sets the standard for real-time, AI-powered cyber defence.
Watson emphasized the great significance of this.
“To me, this launch represents more than just an announcement,” he noted. “It signifies an investment in our customers’ security, our nation’s strength, and our collective ability to safeguard enterprises and institutions against an increasingly complex threat landscape.”
Watson also stressed how quickly the deal came together.
“Our vision began just over a year ago with the acquisition of Stratejm, and our accomplishments in that short time are truly remarkable,” he said. “I’m excited about the future of Bell Cyber and Bell Business Markets as we continue building an unparalleled Canadian full-stack tech services portfolio alongside Ateko and Bell AI Fabric.”
This launch leads Bell further towards the goal of becoming Canada’s most trusted Managed Security Services Provider (MSSP). Bell Cyber will offer next generation Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS), combining Bell’s internal security platforms, telco-grade infrastructure and resiliency DNA with real-time threat detection and advanced Security Operations Centre (SOC) capabilities.
Bell Cyber’s new autonomous SOC, announced at the same time, is the result of over two years of research and development. The new platform uses AI and automation to proactively detect and contain threats in under five minutes and shifts the cybersecurity model from reactive detection to proactive defence, helping customers stay ahead of threats.
Bell Cyber’s SECaaS platform is hosted on a secure, multi-tenant sovereign Canadian cloud, ensuring that customer data is housed, governed and managed entirely within Canada. This supports compliance with national privacy and data residency regulations, offering peace of mind amid growing geopolitical uncertainty and increasingly sophisticated threat actors.
Ateko plays a key role here for Bell Cyber.
“Today we celebrate the launch of Bell Cyber, a big milestone we’ve been working on for our customers,” Watson said. “Leveraging Ateko and Bell AI Fabric solutions, Bell Cyber is a central pillar of our strategy to lead in Enterprise with AI-powered solutions.
“This announcement is an investment in the security of our customers and our country, strengthening our ability to protect enterprises and institutions in an increasingly complex threat landscape,” Watson added.
“Fast forward and the rationale has become increasingly clear,” Watson stated. “We have found a way to keep the great things about the start-ups and their teams intact, while adding many other like-minded teams to create an impressive flywheel of growth. The common thread was that the founders and their teams wanted to create something amazing – together. In some key areas, we have the largest platform bench to support customers in our market. We have also fully leveraged the great things about Bell Canada: deep customer relationships, trust and purpose. The combination of the two teams has been magical.
“Ateko brings together our talent and expertise under one brand with capabilities in cloud, CRM and workforce automation,” Watson continued. “We have committed to doing 5 things really well – ServiceNow, Salesforce, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. We are passionately focused on customer outcomes and time to value, and because of our depth of expertise in the five areas, we’ll deliver.”
In addition, Bell Cyber partners with global tech leaders, including Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Microsoft and Fortinet, to deliver cybersecurity solutions that scale with the needs of businesses across complex industries. These partnerships support Bell Cyber’s ability to design, deploy and manage tailored strategies for enterprise clients.
“It is both humbling and rewarding to create a new business, with a new team, in a new domain, and succeed,” Watson concluded. “There are many lessons learned and it is always harder than it looks at the start. We’ve persevered and succeeded because of the outstanding leaders and are well underway to create a $1 billion tech services business.”
