At their Sage Future for Partners event in Barcelona, which just concluded, Sage made a pair of important channel announcements. They have been growing the number of distinct AI agents they make available, and they have added another with Sage Intacct Finance Intelligence Agent. The Finance Intelligence Agent is part of Sage’s growing network of AI agents transforming the role of the CFO, from supporting the business to leading it. The second announcement is the launch of their new AI Developer Solutions, which will enhance the way in which partners and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) innovate on the Sage Platform.
Sage says that the launch’s introduction of the Sage Intacct Finance Intelligence Agent sets a new benchmark for high-performance finance and marks a pivotal step toward autonomous operations and insights. By supporting CFOs with AI-powered agents, Sage helps organizations get continuous accounting, trust, and insights, delivering speed, accuracy, and clarity, while reducing manual efforts and reporting. The new Finance Intelligence Agent joins Sage’s growing network of AI agents, delivering autonomous insights alongside existing Agents – Close, Accounts Payable, Time, and Assurance.
Historically, finance teams often needed to hunt for reports, review dashboards, and sometimes export and manipulate data in spreadsheets to get answers and make recommendations – a process that could take minutes to hours depending on the complexity of the task. The Finance Intelligence Agent represents the next evolution of AI in finance, acting as an intelligence layer that routes natural language questions to the right AI Agents and financial data sources, coordinates their responses, and composes a final, actionable answer – in seconds. By eliminating the need to run reports or analyze data externally, it simplifies decision-making and accelerates outcomes.
‘Today at Sage Future for Partners in Barcelona, I had the pleasure of unveiling the next step in our AI journey: the Sage Intacct Finance Intelligence Agent,” said Steve Hare, Sage’s CEO. “This is a big moment. We’re giving finance teams the tools to shift gears – from simply reporting the numbers to driving the business forward. With trusted, domain-specific AI, they’re getting real insights they can actually use. Our AI Agents are designed with finance professionals in mind. They take care of the repetitive tasks, speed up the close process, and help business leaders see the bigger picture. This is AI built for the real world. Not demos. Not hype. Just real value for real businesses.”
The addition of the Finance Intelligence Agent, in addition to the four which existed previously – Close, AP, Assurance and Time – builds on the existing suite of Sage Intacct AI Agents designed to support finance teams across workflows. These agents are built on Sage’s unified platform – where applications, workflows, and data come together – and powered by Sage AI, which delivers purpose-built, domain-specific AI services. Acting as behind-the-scenes specialists, they operate within permission boundaries, whether surfaced through Sage Copilot or embedded into product workflows. Sage AI Agents strengthen Sage Intacct as one of the industry’s leading and most trusted platforms for CFOs. Built by finance teams, Sage Intacct’s AI Agents deliver automation that is practical, transparent, and tailored to how they work, helping organizations meet today’s pressures head-on.
“It’s incredibly important that we give finance teams technology that doesn’t just respond to requests but works alongside them proactively, and that’s what we are achieving with our Agents,” Hare stated. “With our AI Agents, we are helping teams save time, surface insights faster, and perform at their best. It’s about giving finance leaders more confidence in their numbers and the freedom to guide the business. This is authentic, finance-first AI that empowers high-performing teams and equips them with transparent, accurate, and audit-ready insights.”
Sage Intacct AI Agents relieve pressure on teams that spend too much time on manual processes and chasing data. By automating tasks like drafting bills, matching transactions, guiding close activities, and flagging errors before they escalate, these Agents help finance teams operate with greater speed, accuracy, and confidence. They connect insights and actions across finance operations, enabling CFOs and their teams to focus on strategy and growth. Together, the Agents streamline core workflows and advance continuous accounting, delivering trusted insights while reducing manual effort and reporting overhead.
“The Finance Intelligence Agent is a massive leap beyond today’s finance tools,” said Thomas Cochran, CFO at New West Building Company. “With the ability for agents to work together to complete workflows and deliver insights, we can achieve our vision to shift from doers to reviewers. That allows us focus on the high-impact activities that serve our customers and grow our business.”
According to McKinsey, technologies can fully automate 42% of finance activities and mostly automate a further 19%. Sage data shows how this potential is being realized in practice, with AI processing 45 million bills, flagging 190 million anomalies, and processing 3.2 billion transactions annually. Customers are saving an estimated 50 million hours annually.
“Our Agents are designed for the workflows that matter most,” said Dan Miller, EVP, Financials and ERP, Sage. “Whether it’s optimizing vendor payments, guiding teams through the close, or providing financial insight, these agents save valuable time while helping finance professionals deliver consistent, high performance.”
Unlike general-purpose AI tools that require extensive customization, Sage Intacct’s finance-first AI Agents work out of the box, delivering fast results with minimal setup. For Sage partners, the Sage Platform creates new opportunities to deliver results quickly and differentiate their services. Prebuilt and ready to deploy, the AI Agents accelerate client outcomes without the need for costly integrations or custom builds.
The Finance Intelligence Agent is available in December to Early Adopters on Sage Intacct across the US and the UK.
Sage Intacct is also the initial focus of their new AI Developer Solutions. Sage says that it marks a major milestone in how partners and ISVs innovate on the Sage Platform. The first phase of the program launches with Sage Intacct, with future expansion scheduled to take place across Sage’s product portfolio. In a first-of-its-kind integration for Sage, the company will integrate certified third-party AI agents directly into the Sage Copilot experience, enabling partners to build and deploy specialized AI workflows that elevate human work. For customers, this means richer choice, embedded intelligence, and faster innovation within the Sage products they already trust.
“This is the next step in Sage’s Platform journey,” said Aaron Harris, CTO, Sage. “We are giving our partners the ability to build with Sage intelligence at their core. Together we can accelerate innovation for millions of small and mid-sized businesses, bringing AI agents out of the lab and into the real workflows where they’ll make the biggest impact.”
Small and mid-sized businesses increasingly want integrated solutions, not isolated products. They’re looking for connected tools they can trust and offer flexibility, personalization, and choice. This shift reinforces Sage’s commitment to an open ecosystem that enables partners to create AI-powered extensions and workflows tailored to every customer’s needs, driving higher performance and sustained business growth.
The new Sage AI Developer Solutions introduces a curated, secure, and governed ecosystem where trusted partners can create certified advanced AI capabilities and AI agents that enhance automation, integration, insight, and decision-making for Sage customers. The goal is to accelerate innovation while maintaining the highest standards of trust, quality, compliance, and data protection and meeting the specific business needs of its customers.
“AI is fundamentally redefining tax compliance for businesses,” said Kevin Akeroyd, CEO, Sovos. “Sovos is leading this transformation as one of the first partners in Sage’s AI Developer Solutions. By combining our deep tax compliance expertise with Sage’s trusted AI platform, we’re building intelligent agents that integrate seamlessly into finance workflows, helping businesses make faster, smarter decisions while driving measurable improvements in productivity and profitability. We continue to work with Sage and AWS to bring enterprise-grade tax compliance capabilities to growing businesses, unlocking new levels of productivity and profitability.”
At the centre of the initiative is the Sage AI Gateway, built on Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs. Together, these components enable the creation of AI extensions that securely interact with and integrate seamlessly into Sage’s core products.
Sage Active, Sage’s flagship AI-first cloud suite for Europe, represents the next step in this strategy. Built for scale and designed to embed intelligent workflows across every aspect of a customer’s business, its open APIs create a scalable ecosystem where developers can design advanced, tailored solutions. As part of Sage’s unified AI Developer Solutions, Sage Active will progressively evolve to support agentic and Model Context Protocol (MCP) capabilities, enabling partners to build vertical AI agents and advanced automations as these capabilities roll out. By unifying quotes, invoicing, accounting, payroll, and HR into a single cloud-native suite, it provides partners with a modern go-to-market engine that helps small and mid-sized businesses adopt new capabilities with confidence.
The launch signals a fundamental evolution in how Sage works with its ecosystem, enabling partners to move from integration to true co-creation within Sage’s AI-powered Platform infrastructure. Sage’s global platform strategy brings this vision to life by enabling partners to build within a secure, compliant, and high-performance framework. Partners benefit from Sage’s deep domain expertise and customer trust, reducing the cost, complexity, and risk of innovation while delivering faster value to customers.
For customers, this means a richer choice of AI-enabled tools and workflows, embedded intelligence, and faster innovation, delivered to them through their Sage Copilot interface deeply embedded into the Sage products they already trust.
Launching in November with the Intacct AI Gateway, the MCP server will enable intelligent orchestration by allowing multiple agents to coordinate tasks, handle planning, instantly retrieve information and generate useful insights. Built on top of Sage Intacct REST APIs, the MCP server allows third-party built AI solutions to be more effective and provide increased customer value.
