Today, cybersecurity vendor Barracuda Networks, which focuses on providing complete protection against complex threats for all size business, is unveiling enhancements to its AI-powered BarracudaONE platform. They tend to fall into three buckets. One is the expansion of PSA integrations for automated billing and invoicing, A second is new bulk remediation for email threats. The other enhancement is streamlined account management. What they all have in common is being purpose-built for MSPs by helping them accelerate security across multi-tenant environments, simplify operations and drive scalable growth.
MSPs are a growing part of Barracuda’s business, although it is still the minority.
“Our business has always been a mix of organic and inorganic growth, and in the MSP area, acquisitions were key,” said Brian Downey, VP of Product Management and Product Marketing at Barracuda. “MSPs are now between 25% and 50% of the total business.”
Downey emphasized that BarracudaONE was always MSP-centric
“The features that we are announcing now is the next iteration of what we started with,” he stated. “it’s for all customers, but we really focused on the MSP as the core of it. And what you’re really seeing is a set of features that are coming out that are really the iteration of us building on what we started with BarracudaONE. When we released it in June, we talked about three really different dashboards, including a value dashboard that was actually specifically catered for an MSP, with an MSP being able to go in, talk to a client, and tell them about what they’ve done for them, so they can talk about what they need to do next.
“Other opportunities were the consolidation of alerts, which again, were very MSP-centric,” Downey said. “MSPs were telling us, hey, we’re going through all these different tools to figure out what happened yesterday. If we can consolidate them, we can make sure we hit the highest priority things first, be more efficient, and also drive more effectiveness. Then we also started to bring in configuration views. – another thing that had huge, huge value for MSPs, because the administration of all their different clients, what they were seeing is they were seeing configuration drift, and it was really hard to detect and was time-intensive, so being able to bring it all together and show them, hey, here’s where you are, here are the things that you haven’t fully deployed solutions, here’s the clients where you have something that’s out of configuration. It saves them a ton of time, but also, again, drives up that security efficacy.”
Now Barracuda is announcing a new set of capabilities.
“These new capabilities underscore Barracuda’s unwavering commitment to helping MSPs scale securely, respond to threats faster and operate with greater agility,” said Michelle Hodges, senior vice president of global channels and alliances at Barracuda. “Aligned with our partner-first mission, we’re equipping MSPs with the tools they need to grow their businesses and deliver exceptional protection to their customers. By embedding automation and intelligence into daily workflows, we’re enabling our partners to achieve stronger, more profitable outcomes – with greater speed, precision and impact.”
The first of these new capabilities is integration with PSA systems.
“We’ve done this in the past, where we have some integrations with PSA systems,” Downey noted. This is really building on that and extending it. We’ve worked with a vendor in the MSP space who helps with some of those integration concepts. We’re going to be integrating with the six major PSAs in the market. This adds four, I believe, and I’d say this is 99% of the MSP market.” They now have integrations with Autotask by Datto, ConnectWise PSA, HaloPSA, Kaseya BMS, Pulseway PSA, and Syncro.
“We do this based on customer demand,” Downey added. I’d say this covers any demand we’re seeing from customers. We’re not seeing any asks go beyond this. The biggest one we might see is the parallel to PSAs, which would be maybe for really large MSPs who have now pivoted to, like, a ServiceNow or a ticketing system compared to a standard PSA. But that’s very few of some of the really, really large MSPs. We see some of that, so I think that that would be the next direction. We also want to do the same expansion you’re seeing with PSAs, and expand what we do with RMMs. We have integrations with several RMM tools today, but we think there’s an opportunity there to more tightly connect them.”
With the bulk remediation for email threats, Barracuda Email Protection now enables MSPs to instantly remediate email threats across all customer environments with a single click – accelerating response times by up to 10x. This rapid containment reduces threat exposure and minimizes escalations. By streamlining threat management and ensuring consistent protection across tenants, MSPs can enhance service delivery, reduce overhead and strengthen trust with customers.
“MSPs can now instantly remediate email threats across all customer environments with a single click,” Downey said. “We have always had the ability to remediate. This adds the ability to do it multi-tenanted at the same time. It’s a huge drive in efficiency for MSPs. It’s really showing MSPs how to bridge that gap between protection and resilience, that protection alone isn’t enough. This brings in bulk remediation in a way that is effective for the MSP channel.”
“As an MSP managing many diverse customer environments, the new bulk remediation capability is a true game-changer,” said Scott Coates, manager of IT services at Barracuda partner Servicad. “Email threats rarely stay confined – they often span across environments. With the ability to instantly remove those threats across all accounts, we save critical time and dramatically reduce risk.”
The simplified management comes from embedded automation, natural language queries and intelligent reporting. It also includes the ability of MSPs to manage solutions, accounts, licenses, and threat response across their customer base from one centralized location. This embedded experience simplifies account management, reduces context switching and boosts overall productivity. These latest enhancements empower MSPs to streamline service delivery, automate invoicing and strengthen customer trust, making BarracudaONE a powerful foundation for scalable growth and resilient cybersecurity.
“This streamlined account management pulls together that experience, and also connects to the bulk remediation,” Downey said. “Enabling bulk remediation is really around that simplicity and driving scale in those multi-tenant environments, pulling admin closer to day to day operations. It just really pulls together that experience and allows the day-to-day workflows as well overall administrative tasks to be done in one place in a simple, easy way.”
Downey noted why partners are going to find this news interesting.
“When partners look at this and these types of changes, I think they can see that the solutions that Barracuda is building are fit for an MSP workflow. And that’s really our big goal. MSPs have their methods of operating, and for a lot of good reasons, they’re doing a lot of challenging things, you know, managing a lot of different customers and tenants at the same time, and we need to ensure security tools match the way that they work. And I think that what you’re seeing with all three of these, whether it’s integrating with the PSA, whether it’s pulling the administration closer to the day-to-day operations, or whether it’s being able to go out and, remediate quicker and easier across their tenants. They see that this is a way to allow them to deploy more effective security to their clients, but doing it in a way that’s going to improve their overall efficiency.”
“The latest enhancements to BarracudaONE will help us to scale faster, respond more effectively and deliver more robust protection to our customers,” said Andrew James, managing director at Shield Cyber Security. “BarracudaONE adds significant value to our managed services offering as we can do more, quickly and efficiently to protect our clients.”
“As the world continues to evolve, I think that we continue to see people struggle with the foundational concepts of security, and I think every day they become more and more important,” Downey concluded. “I think our goal is to make that easier and simpler, especially for the under-resourced organizations, which are so many right now. So we’re hoping this goes a long way in helping MSPs be able to kind of live up to that challenge and live up to the expectation of their clients.”
