HPE made a big play in 2018 around servers in the SMB space, followed up by solutions related to hybrid cloud. While those will continue in 2019, the company is also looking to roll out similar initiatives around simplification around storage and hyper-converged solutions for SMBs.
HPE has had IoT appliances on the market for several years, but at HPE Discover this year they are announcing the EdgeLine OT Link Platform, software that combines OT and enterprise grade IT functionality in the same box, which will make it easier to manage massive amounts of devices at the edge.
HPE will be driving their Memory-Driven Computing model much more broadly to customers, partners and ISVs, by making a sandbox version available, particularly to expose it to developers, and also by bringing it to market selectively through their Pointnext flexible consumption model services.
Veeam has been promoted to HPE’s top partner category, Global Supply Chain, and named a Gold Partner in the HPE Global Partner Program and an HPE Pointnext storage partner. The latter allows them to be sold as an HPE consumption service, which Veeam sees as having great potential for them.
HPE has beefed up their edge IoT devices with more storage capacity, and announced validation of the ability of these devices to run high capacity solutions at the edge, by software vendors ranging from industry titans to high-flying startups
