JumpCloud and Google Workspace partner to launch new Work Transformation Set on Google

Greg Keller, co-founder and chief technology officer at JumpCloud

Today, JumpCloud, which makes a zero trust unified cloud-based platform  for identity, device, and access management, is taking it to Google Workspace. The two companies have announced that JumpCloud is collaborating with Google Workspace to Launch Work Transformation Set, a new solution with built-in AI that the companies say redefines IT management and security for a modern enterprise. Google will have exclusive Go-to-Market rights, in a single, cost-effective price and contract from Google.

JumpCloud was founded in 2012, and had their Series F round a couple of years ago.

“At this stage, we are no longer a startup,” said Greg Keller, co-founder and chief technology officer at JumpCloud. “We are a scale-up, pre IPO company. We actually launched our platform service in 2014, and raised a little under a half billion in capital, We are now selling in161  countries, and 250k active organizations use us globally. We serve SMBs, the midmarket, and the enterprise.”

Their primary competitive focus is opposition to Microsoft – something that they share with Google.

“We are an authoritative source of access control,” specifically an access control option against Microsoft,” Keller stated. “We are a direct competitor to Microsoft products Intune, Active Directory and Entra. When we started, we saw Active Directory as a backward technology and focused intentionally on solving that problem. That was compelling for scale-up companies like we are now.  We weren’t all there on Day One, but we moved into device control – SSO and MFA, PAM and IGA. On day one we were adopted as a cloud-based directory service, that would take on various services within a company, so they didn’t have to use the Microsoft  suite any more.”

JumpCloud has worked with  Google before, but never formally partnered with them.

“We’ve always been very aligned and had various incarnations of partnership – and tens of thousands of joint partners – but we had never done anything together,” Keller noted. “Google had a vested interest in taking share of wallet from Microsoft like us. So in collaboration, we decided to formalize  this relationship. Their sellers sell it, so in that sense it is more like an OEM relationship. Google sellers tell Microsoft customers they now have a choice, that here’s a more secure cloud-based  product you should consider moving to.”

Work Transformation Set is a strong alternative to legacy, on-premises collaboration, productivity, and IT management technology that can lead to inefficient work, security incidents, and operational downtime. The integrated solution helps businesses innovate with Google AI, reduce security risks with Zero Trust controls, and improve business agility with simplified procurement, adoption, and integration for best-of-breed tools. It is now available exclusively through Google Workspace and delivers a single, cost-effective price, contract, and support assistance for productivity, identity, and device management technology. It allows enterprises to provide teams with AI-powered tools and embrace a Zero Trust security model while reducing total cost of ownership.

“Enterprise IT and security teams are at a crossroads,” Keller said. “The choices they face are clear: stick with legacy systems that have held back innovation for decades, or embrace a modern, AI-enabled future. Living in the past, and being complacent with legacy technology isn’t going to shape the future. The combination of JumpCloud and Google Workspace provides that clear path forward, leveraging Google’s powerful AI capabilities to accelerate deeper security, productivity, and value.”

Keller discussed multiple positives that Work Transformation Set brings to the table, starting with accelerated AI innovation with Google’s Workspace with Gemini, which allows faster content creation, data analysis, and meeting management, supported by JumpCloud’s secure IT platform.

“Google did some crafty things with AI strategy,” Keller noted. “They embedded AI through all Google products, instead of treating it as an add-on, like Microsoft. This is not a bolt-on. In fact, over two years ago we started to retool our platfom to sit on Gemini. We love that model, and we doubled down on Google itself.”

Work Transformation Set  also reduces security risks, with AI-powered IAM and UEM enabling Zero Trust access and strong biometric MFA, lowering attack surfaces and securing work from any device.

“This is less about our implementation,” Keller said. “Active Directory gets hacked, and there is no way for them to fix that, because  bad actors reverse engineered their technology. Customers gain by just making that switch as a result.

Finally, improved business agility streamlines licensing and procurement, modernizes legacy technology, and allows flexible adoption of preferred tools under a single contract.

“JumpCloud effectively just became a Google product,” Keller stated. “The customer doesn’t have to deal with multiple salespeople – just one. Our global sales force isn’t even involved. This is all unified and a very elegant experience for the customer.”

“Our customers tell us they need world-class AI, productivity, and collaboration, along with best-in-class IT management capabilities,” said Yulie Kwon Kim, vice president, product, Google Workspace. ” Work Transformation Set is built to do exactly that. Our collaboration with JumpCloud provides a modern solution that empowers organizations to move beyond outdated technology. With an open and flexible platform, this integration helps businesses streamline operations and defend against evolving threats.”

So, since this basically goes to market through Google, what does JumpCloud’s large channel think of it.

“The reality here is the SKU they sell was designed to be more cost effective than Microsoft E3 [the suite of Microsoft Office productivity apps].” Keller noted. “We made it dumb easy to see what you get. While we are announcing this now, we have already been active in the field. We now have a little under 5000 partners, most of them being MSPs, and the channel does about a quarter of the business. This is particularly exciting for regional partners. Many service provider partners are building transformation services, which is a more effective way to get people in the cloud . The reception here is very high.”

Work Transformation Set, which is targeted at enterprises, is available now.
