With the launch of its own public cloud platform that’s compatible with its familiar on-site virtualization infrastructure, VMware is making the pitch that it’s the right choice for truly flexible hybrid clouds.
And there’s a third category of hybrid clouds that fit into VMware’s plans. Along with customer-hosted and VMware-hosted infrastructure, the company expects many of its partners to add their own VMware-based cloud platforms, and workloads will be able to flow easily amongst all three models
I caught up with Shawn Rosemarin, executive director of architecture and professional services for VMware Canada, at the company’s VMforum event in Toronto to chat about VMware’s hybrid cloud strategy and how partners fit into the equation.
