Bitdefender and ConnectWise launch strategic partnership

The expanded relationship will see Bitdefender’s software integrated into the ConnectWise SOC service to provide an upgraded defense capability against advanced cyber threats.

Today, on the final day of the IT Nation Secure event, ConnectWise is launching an expanded partnership with cyber security firm BitDefender, their Diamond Sponsor at the show. The joint solution will integrate Bitdefender GravityZone Cloud Security for MSPs, Advanced Threat Security (ATS), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions into the ConnectWise Security Operations Center (SOC) service. It is aimed at the growing SOC-as-a-Service market, which IT service providers are embracing this both to protect their own clients while also reducing overhead and freeing their time to focus on scaling and growing their business.

“As we have grown and built our ConnectWise Security Centre, we have also built an alliance with BitDefender,” said Jay Ryerse, CISSP and Vice President, Global Security Sales, at ConnectWise. “It expands our integration with BitDefender’s security technology, backed by our managed security. We have always looked for delivering the best choice to the community. The choices BitDefender has offered has caught up with the best in class, and allows MSPs to reach their full security potential.”

Bitdefender’s multi-layered threat defense technologies include exploit, network and fileless attack defense, content and device control, behavior monitoring, and early breach detection, to protect against threats which include ransomware attacks, zero-day exploits, phishing, and web threats.

“The challenge that MSPs face is that there are too many security tools, and that there are too many products to manage,” Ryerse said. “This simplifies this for them.

“It all starts with the integrations, then the ability with our SOC to use consoles 24/7 – take steps to help defend a partner’s clients or a partner themselves if they are under attack,” he added.

“Their billing and ticketing integration also indicate that Bitdefender is showing up,” said Raffael Marty, GM of Cybersecurity at ConnectWise.

“This all makes it easy for the community to work together,” Ryerse stressed. “It’s a team sport.”

Rich Tallman, Senior Director Global Cloud Security & MSP, at BitDefender

“It certainly makes it less noisy,” said Rich Tallman, Senior Director Global Cloud Security & MSP, at BitDefender. “We are platform-friendly, we still need to be in their platform to make it easier to work with them. We combine software and professional services through the SOC, but you still need the people.”

This is Bitdefender’s first strategic relationship of this type. The same is not the case with ConnectWise.

“SentinelOne is also a strategic partner of ours in the security area,” Ryerse said. “We will also be bringing in more strategic partners in other areas where we want to help MSPs offer a comprehensive offering.”
