VMware’s big bets and what they mean to partners

Peter Near, national director of solutions engineering at VMware Canada

VMware Canada national director of solutions engineering Peter Near joins us for this edition of the podcast, talking about some of the big trends announced at, or immediately before, last week’s VMworld event in San Francisco.

In this podcast, Near discusses:

  • the recently-announced acquisitions of Pivotal and Carbon Black – how they fit into VMware’s overall strategy, what it will mean for the company’s partners, and how they can prepare their businesses for VMware’s new direction;
  • Tanzu, announced at VMworld, which is the company’s strategy for embracing Kubernetes throughout the VMware stack. That includes Project Pacific, the codename for the company’s announced intent to bake the container-orchestration software right into an upcoming release of its flagship vSphere; and
  • why the company’s partners need to get ready for the second wave of cloud action in Canada, as Near expects the early adopters to take a look at revising their strategy over the next year.

All that and more in this edition of the ChannelBuzz.ca Podcast.
