Commvault’s head of Worldwide Partners and Market Development comments on the significance of the new NetApp relationship as part of Commvault’s broader strategy, and indicated customers and partners can look for more such relationships.
Commvault is making several extremely significant strategic partnership announcements at their GO event. The one with HPE extends an existing relationship, so in terms of new business, may not be as significant in terms of new revenues, but it is still important as clear statement of their go-to-market strategy.
The new version of HPE’s StoreOnce hybrid backup appliance remakes pretty much everything, from new hardware, to a new software stack and GUI, to significant changes to the go-to-market.
In addition to completing the full integration of the analytics capabilities HPE acquired last year with Nimble, HPE also expanded their tools and integrations to automate 3PAR in the cloud, DevOps, virtualization and container environments.
The expansion of Commvault go-to-market abilities with HPE comes on the heels of the expansion of theirInfinidat technology integration into a go-to-market relationship, and last year’s similar agreement with Cisco.
HPE also announces a replacement for its mid-range 3PAR 8450 all-flash array, a Nimble secondary flash array and both new and enhanced storage software.
As all-flash grows in importance, HPE is emphasizing the importance of how the infrastructure beyond the flash array itself impacts orchestration and protects data.
Net-new offerings include 3PAR Flash Acceleration for Oracle and the 3PAR StoreServ 8200 Converged File and Block Starter Kit.
