Poly adds new 3-in-1 Bluetooth enabled Voyager 4245 with Microsoft Teams certification

Poly continues the overhaul of its headset portfolio that has been ongoing for the past several months with a new model, borrowing the same 3-in1 wearing option from the Savi 8245, and providing a Microsoft Teams option.

The Voyager 4245 Office

Today, Poly, the brand that Plantronics chose to use going forward last year following their 2018 acquisition of Polycom, is announcing Voyager 4245 Office, a new Bluetooth-enabled headset. It is significant in a couple of respects. It is the first of the company’s versatile three-in-one wearing options to be offered in their Bluetooth-enabled Voyager line. It is also certified with Microsoft Teams, and becomes another device in their portfolio to have Teams available as an option.

“This has been one of the busiest years in my 25 years in the business,” said Chris Thorson, Senior Director, Solutions Marketing at Poly. “We have been systematically refreshing our headset lines, covering all aspects of our DECT and Bluetooth headsets between October and December, and refreshing our EncorePro contact centre on the low end. We also refreshed our video lineup, with the Studio G7500, and most recently, the Studio X family. And to manage it all in February announced we announced Poly Lens, which is initially video management, but over time will be conference, desk sets and the rest of the portfolio.”

This Voyager 4245’s niche is the versatility of three different wearing styles in one package: on your ear, behind the head, or over the head.

“It’s similar to the Savi 8245, with the same look and feel, but it is now a Bluetooth product,” Thorson indicated. Introduced last fall, the Savi 8245 is part of Poly’s DECT portfolio.

“The Voyager 8245 has the same convertible wearing style, both for connectivity and from a wearing style perspective,” Thorson said. The latter is due to its being designed for intensive users. It connects through Bluetooth to deskphones, PCs, or mobile phones, and the headset includes a swappable battery for unlimited talk time.

The Voyager 4245 also has a dedicated Teams button, and becomes one of Poly’s 15 Microsoft Teams-certified headsets and personal speakerphone devices.

“Our Teams certified headsets all have to meet a certain performance standard, with Microsoft telling us what the button will do,” Thorson noted. “Our older Skype for Business headsets are also supported on Teams as well.”

Voyager 4245 Office Teams and standard versions will be available May 2020.
