Dell expands Dell XC Series Nutanix offerings

Scheduled to roll out in Q3, the updates to the portfolio address specific use cases. They are: support for KVM, including Nutanix’s new KVM-based hypervisor; a storage-heavy Lite-Compute node; a new appliance that provides Nvidia GPU support; and a short-depth, 1U form factor appliance.

Acropolis combines Nutanix’s flagship Distributed Storage Fabric with their own hypervisor and a new app mobility fabric which will decouple apps from their hypervisor, let users use the Nutanix hypervisor, and massively cut their virtualization costs. Prism complements it with simple management. Acropolis and Prism make up the new Xtreme Computing Platform.

Nutanix unveils rigorous multi-hypervisor hyper-converged certification program

Nutanix aims to create the equivalent of a Cisco CCIE certification for the hyperconverged world, that will establish its thought leadership, with a demanding certification program that tests the ability to design solutions on multiple hypervisors.

Dell emphasizes SMB with new all- flash array, and hybrid EqualLogic entry level offerings

The Dell Storage SC 4020 all-flash array is a less expensive follow-up to Dell’s Flash Optimized Solution from last year, while the PS4210, which replaces the PS4110 and PS4100 in the Dell EqualLogic lineup, is targeted at the entry-level customer, but has some other market potential.
