The bundle enhances interoperability between Fortinet’s FortiGate Network Security Platform and the HPE Security Logger products, and will initially be piloted exclusively through Arrow to a limited number of partners, before being opened up later this year.
At the RSA Conference this week, Fortinet and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) introduced a new, integrated security bundle that features enhanced interoperability between the Fortinet FortiGate Network Security Platform and HPE Security Logger products.
“We have been working with HP for a number of years, and there has been a good relationship between the two companies,” said Stephen Lyle, Senior Director, Strategic Alliances, at Fortinet. “We have worked extensively with HP on both the software and services side. The joint relationship includes selling HPE ArcSight, Fortify and networking products with FortiGate, making sure they integrate well from a sell-through perspective. HP Services also resells Fortigate through ITO, [Information Technology Outsourcing, the old EDS] and the ESS team, as part of their managed security services. HPE is also a large Fortinet customer, which deploys FortiGate internally.
“Both organizations had feedback from our customers that they would like us to go to market even more effectively, and about the benefits of greater integration,” Lyle said. “So we started looking at our key solutions to see if we could do a better job of integrating. We worked closely with Arrow on this, who helped create a single SKU.”
The bundle includes the Fortinet FortiGate Enterprise Firewall and HPE Security Logger software, creating a high-performing firewall and log management capabilities that seamlessly collects, stores, identifies, analyzes and mitigates complex threats. The bundle comes packaged with Fortinet enterprise solutions, including FortiCare 24×7 support, NGFW, AV, web filtering and anti-spam.
The bundle is aimed at midmarket customers as well as the enterprise.
“One thousand to five thousand users is what we are targeting,” Lyle said. “We have also identified some verticals we are targeting with this.”
The initial go-to-market will be limited to distribution through Arrow, and to a comparatively small number of reseller partners.
“It is going to market through HPE as well, and we have identified ten partners initially with the highest accreditations on both sides,” Lyle said. “Initially this will be available only through Arrow, to fine tune it with this small number of resellers, and it will only be available in the U.S. and Canada. In the second half of the year, it will be opened to other regions, and other distributors as well.
“Having an integrated offering from industry leaders like HPE Security and Fortinet opens the door for us to address the unique IT challenges of these customers with an out-of-the-box, security solution that is proven, cost-effective and will help users gain full control of their network security,” said Russell Zientek, vice president, Cybersecurity Division at Arrow Distribution.
