Lenovo’s enhanced relationship with Veeam is but one part of a much broader initiative they are announcing Thursday at their Lenovo Transform event.
The major announcement was Veam DataLabs, which is an upgraded version of the old Veeam Virtual Labs repositioned to serve broader use cases. In that sense, this product announcement also fits into the articulation of the broader vision which is what this year’s VeeamON was all about.
The main Veeam announcement at this year’s VeeamON event is advancing their core branding, to keep up with customer expectations by providing fully automated data management as part of an availability strategy.
The Tintri collaboration provides a packaged replication service for higher tier disaster recovery needs. It will be available through Neverfail partners, and will likely be able to be sold by Tintri partners too.
The deal is aimed at strengthening Veeam in the enterprise, and NetApp in the midmarket and SMB, and follows up several other recent Veeam resale partnerships.

DataGravity for Availability is a separate product that sits on top of Veeam, and provides it with a behavior-driven security capability. For now, it only works with Veeam, but the plan is to ultimately extend it to other vendors.
At VeeamON, Veeam announced several significant new innovations in their flagship product, which will be released later this year.
New initiatives include a Veeam Accredited Service Partner program, the release candidate of a new Veeam Availability Console and new multi-tenancy in Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365.
Veeam’s aggressive growth strategy is based in large part on grabbing share from competitors, and at the Partner Day at their VeeamOn event, they outlined their broad strategy to partners.
Veeam is the first availability vendor to be deeply integrated with the new 2.0 version of Cisco’s HyperFlex hyper-converged platform, which will be good news for joint Veeam and Cisco partners.
Zerto, which sells entirely through partners, is expanding its routes to market with this deal, which it expects will be only the first of multiple such major initiatives.
