Veeam has been promoted to HPE’s top partner category, Global Supply Chain, and named a Gold Partner in the HPE Global Partner Program and an HPE Pointnext storage partner. The latter allows them to be sold as an HPE consumption service, which Veeam sees as having great potential for them.
LAS VEGAS – At the HPE Discover event here, data management vendor Veeam is making several announcements reflecting an upgrade in several key components of their relationship with Hewlett Packard Enterprise. They also received an award from HPE at their Global Partner Summit, reflecting the significance of the upgrades.
“Awards are great for recognition, but the big news here is that Veeam solutions will be integrated into HPE’s global supply chain processes and systems,” said Carey Stanton, Vice President of Global Alliances at Veeam. “Being in global supply chain status, which HPE formerly called OEM, is a world unto itself.” It will allow customers to source Veeam solutions in all geographies from HPE, through HPE, and with the assistance of better financial incentives to sell Veeam.
“We were in the HPE Complete program before,” Stanton said. “HPE Complete is a wonderful program, but was not meant to do high volumes of transactions. We moved from 50 transactions in Q1 to over 400 in Q4, and closed over 1,000 transactions from January 1. Our HPE revenue was up over 180 per cent. That kind of momentum was not meant for HPE Complete.”
Veeam has also been elevated to Gold Partner status in the HPE Global Partner Program.
“That’s the same bucket that HPE vendor partners like VMware are in,” Stanton said. “It brings dedicated resources. It brings simplified transactions. We are also the only data management company that is in that level.”
Veeam is not the only data management company in the HPE Pointnext program. Commvault is also there. Commvault, was however there before, and Veeam is viewing their new status in that program as a major achievement as well. It will now allow Veeam to be sold through HPE’s division for next-generation of on-premises consumption services,
“The fastest growing part of our business is VCSP [Veeam Cloud & Service Provider,” Stanton said. “We have over one million VMs under management through our cloud and service providers This element of our business with HPE was very complicated before. Now HPE Pointnext acts as the bank. They include the hardware and our software in a turnkey solution for consumption-based sales.”
In addition, HPE is now offering the Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) training and certification courses as part of their storage training curriculum, at the HPE Education Center.
Veeam and HPE Nimble and Veeam also announced a strengthening of their long-time partnership, to make it easier than ever to buy, support and sell their integrated solutions.
“We have always have a strong relationship with Nimble, since before they were acquired,” Stanton said. “We are attached to between 35 and 40 per cent of Nimble sales. It has always been a high percentage. Working with them has always been easy and that will only help us going forward.”
All of these upgrades led to Veeam winning the inaugural HPE “Momentum Technology Partner of the Year 2018 — Data and Analytics Solutions Award” for high availability storage and data protection solutions growth.
“We have strong relationships with all Veeam OEMs, but the most complete from cradle to grave process is HPE, and HPE is by far the largest in revenue for us,” Stanton indicated. “PointNext will now take it to a higher level.”
Veeam solutions will be integrated into HPE’s global supply chain processes and systems beginning July 2.
