In 2011, Cisco Systems shed business units, looking to solidify around its core in the networking and communications areas amid tepid results and a sense that the networking giant had become overly complex.
But at the same time, the company enjoyed explosive growth in Canada, growth which earned the Canadian operations solid praise from CEO John Chambers in the company’s most recently quarterly earnings announcement.
