Nutanix makes its first foray into acquiring other people’s technology with a pair of deals designed to enhance their storage-class memory systems and improve their cloud automation and management capabilities.
PernixData’s flagship storage product uses high-speed server media to take read and write out of storage and into the server tier, making VM performance much faster and scalable. It’s a highly complementary solution to existing storage arrays.
PernixData has dealt direct with its channel in the past, but believes the time is right to take on distribution to accelerate sales of its software that improves the efficiency of storage in virtualized environments.
The company is also announcing a new version of its FVP Freedom software, the free version of their FVP software which they say gives away for free the same thing that hybrid vendors sell on top of their arrays.
