Dell EMC has announced upgrades to its hyper-converged VxRail and VxRack offerings, with hardware improvement stemming both from Intel Broadwell processors and optimization with PowerEdge servers. Many more configurations will be available, including a 3 node VxRail offering that drops the entry price by a quarter.
The enhancements reflect the increased capacity of Intel’s new Xeon E7 and E5 v4 processor. Dell has also refreshed its PowerEdge R830 rack server, which had not been updated since 2011.
Beefing up the offerings owned by organizations soon likely to be owned by Dell comes as no surprise, but the vendor also strongly restated its support for its Nutanix-based XC line, while beefing it up as well, and said it’s not going anywhere.
Dell has announced the availability of its 13th generation servers with significant upgrades due to Intel’s release of its new Broadwell CPUs. The company, has, however, added some of its enhancements at the same time.
