On February 24th, Russia invaded Ukraine. Just a few hours earlier, ESET discovered a destructive piece of malware that wrought havoc on the computer networks of a number of important Ukrainian organizations. The data-wiping malware came to be called HermeticWiper.
In short order, another destructive attack began, targeting Ukrainian governmental networks and leveraging a wiper ESET Research named IsaacWiper.
Ukraine has been a magnet for disruptive cyberattacks for years, and these new campaigns were only the latest in a long string of sophisticated campaigns that have hit the country since 2014.
