BackupAssist thinks that being able to back up cloud data locally, with minimal storage requirements, will appeal to MSPs and lead to a surge of new MSP partners.
The ScramFS encryption system provides client-side encryption that does not require developers to be able to encrypt. Out of the gate, the channel resell opportunity is limited, but that will change with the introduction of user-facing business apps later this year.
The new BackupAssist technology uses algorithms to detect corrupted files, then locks off the backups, to prevent their being corrupted, and blocks future ones until the problem is fixed.
The BackupAssist-as-a-Service program for MSPs makes the Australian-headquartered company a much more forceful player in the North American MSP market.
