Zerto launches Cloud Vault solution for MSPs

Zerto has complemented its Zerto Cloud Vault solution with Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault, a fully managed solution sold through a limited channel of Zerto resellers.

Zerto, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, has taken what it describes as a bold step forward in cyber resilience, with the launch of its Zerto Cloud Vault solution, delivered through select managed service providers (MSPs). It has the ability to slash both recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs). The channel is a limited one, some of whom have been Zerto partners for many years.

“Until now in this space we have been selling  Zerto Cyber Resilience Vault, which lets our clients get their customers back up and running, and which we will continue to sell,” said Kevin Cole, Director of Product Marketing at Zerto. It is deployed as a self-hosted, on-premises stack. “In contrast, Zerto Cloud Vault is a fully managed option.  Zerto has the ability to vault data, but typically this is managed by the partner. We see greater value in partner management, not having Zerto do it.”

There are some similar products on the market, but nothing quite like this,” Cole stated. What sets the Zerto Cloud Vault apart is its ability to slash both recovery point objectives (RPOs) and recovery time objectives (RTOs), minimizing disruption and accelerating post-attack recovery.” It offers logical air-gapping, immutability, and clean room recovery, which leverages the elasticity of the cloud to create clean environments on demand with isolated networks that are protected from attackers and is used to validate data, scrub malware, and perform forensics before recovering back into production.

MSPs have multiple options to position this to their customers.

“In addition to the fully hosted option, experienced customers can offer them as a wrap around their own service,” Cole said. “A lot of customers need the expert advice of an MSP. MSPs who are specifically focused on security will find this particularly useful.”

The solution is built on Zerto’s technology. Out of the gate, four vetted  MSP partners  are involved: Assurestor, Converge, LincolnIT, and Verinext. These partnerships ensure tailored cyber resilience strategies that meet diverse organizational needs while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations.

“We went live with all four partners on the same day,” Cole said. “We want to partner with those who are already experts in cybersecurity. Some of these have been long time partners. Some have also chosen to white label us.”

“Our Gold Standard for cyber recovery considers a product’s recoverability readiness, non-disruptive testing capability, and speed of data recovery,” said Stephen Young, executive director, Assurestor. “We found that Zerto substantially delivered on all these points. Combined with Cloud Vault, the protection provided from ransomware attacks was robust and allowed pinpoint recovery faster than any other products evaluated.”

“Some of our clients’ infrastructure protection needs to be kept with a very tight RPO, but they still need some deeper recovery options than simple replication can provide,” stated Jeremy Brovage, product engineer and solutions architect, Converge Enterprise Cloud. “A cyberattack is seldom clearly understood, even when recovery efforts have begun. Zerto Cloud Vault provides immutable protection history that can be leveraged to find the latest clean point in time for replicated hosts.”

“I’m excited about the evolution of Zerto within HPE [which bought Zerto in 2021],” Cole concluded.  “That partner business has been essential to our success.”
