Intermedia has announced the extension of its relationship with Microsoft around the Intermedia SecuriSync solution. SecuriSync, Intermedia’s joint real time collaboration and file backup solution, now allows Office 365 users to open, save and edit files directly from the SecuriSync Web interface.

“We have previously had a relationship with Microsoft around the desktop version of SecuriSync with Windows-based plug-ins,” said Laura Sankey, Director of Product Marketing at Intermedia. “They were able to share files directly within Office and Outlook. This extends the relationship to the Web.”

The extended relationship came about through the Microsoft Cloud Storage Partner Program, and its facilitation of integrations with Office Online. Sankey said that the integration with Office Online functionality, which allows users to manage and interact with files directly from the web, will increase efficiency for SecuriSync users who utilize Office 365.

“The ability to open edit and save Word, Excel and PowerPoint file from the SecuriSync web interface makes collaboration much more effective,” she stated. “Users can edit files simultaneously and view changes in real time as they are made.” She indicated as well that the integration adds full file backup and restore abilities to Office 365. In cases where a user is working on a device that does not have Word on it, they can work with the Word files through the SecuriSync interface without the need to download and install desktop software.

“We are quite bullish on this,” Sankey said. She emphasized that this new integration with Office 365 increases the differentiation of what was already a highly differentiated product.

“With SecuriSync, we are able to bring the backup and file sharing capability into one, and that has been a unique story,” she said. “Office 365 is itself an extremely fast growing product. Adding the integrated backup and file sharing capability together with the ability to work with files online is a very powerful story.”

Intermedia created SecuriSync as a channel product, and Sankey said that this new integration will further enhance its attractiveness to partners.

“We have designed SecuriSync with gray label capability for MSPs and VARs, so they have full control of the customer and the ability to craft the solution’s margins, billing and integration with their own offerings,” she stated. “Partners are always looking for ways to complement Office 365, and significantly increase margins by selling services on top of that. SecuriSync, with its enhanced file backup and collaboration capabilities, provides that.”

Office Online integration with SecuriSync is available now in North America to Intermedia partners with an Office 365 license
